I grew up around Muskegon, MI and have spent a lot of time in the Traverse City area and the Keweenaw. Mostly I enjoy simple activities: clambering around hillsides, tree climbing, trail running, playing, swimming, slack-lining, bouldering, basketball (or dirt ball).
More recently I’ve become invested in what I consider ‘geary’ activities like downhill and cross country skiing, biking, and kayaking. No matter what we’re doing, if we practice awareness our adventures become more rich with details. I’m all for taking a pause to enjoy the moment or follow an intuitive hunch to explore. Maybe you’ll spot a bobcat’s tail or hear an unfamiliar bird call.
For years I’ve been involved in outdoor programming for youth, and youthful adults, playing, storytelling, gathering knowledge of the naturalist and practicing wilderness survival skills. It brings me joy to provide support for people who are trying something new or pushing their edges, particularly in nature oriented activities.
Other activities I enjoy include reading, creative writing, playing music, making art, and prepping food. Topics I study include mythology, homesteading, community, herbalism, and yoga. I really enjoy hearing others’ stories, too.
